Vanderbilt University Using a hand-crafted clustering technique, Hughes and Peterson isolate eight patterns of cultural choice in a national survey collected in 1973. The resulting patterns cannot be arranged in hierarchical order by social class, bringing into question the hypothesized association between culture class and social class.
