Conditions for Social ResponsibilityIndiana University This article explores the relationship between cultural integrity, diversity, and social responsibility. The obligations and opportunities of responsible citizenship in a complex diverse society pose a difficult political issue that modern societies scarcely recognize. It is not clear, the article concludes, how large and diverse a society can become and yet remain sufficiently cohesive to behave responsibly by any meaningful standard.
