DOI: 10.1177/000276426600900606 Economists in the Soviet UnionThe author, Professor of Economics at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and consultant to the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, contends that despite the favorable social and economic position of Russian economists, the best students do not choose to enter the field of economics, and the training which Russian economists receive is inferior to that of their American counterparts because of the stress placed upon political indoctrination.
